Lituanicon, the Lithuanian community of science fiction and fantasy fans, invited me to take part in the discussion "Technological Innovation: Science VS Fiction" on 10 October.
Together with one of the best-known contemporary science fiction writers, the Welsh author Alastair Reynolds, we will talk about science, technology and a future that sometimes looks like something out of a science fiction novel.
Alastair Reynolds holds a PhD in astrophysics and is famous for his science fiction and space opera. It will be especially interesting to discuss where scientific imagination meets real scientific achievement.
Does science fiction only imagine the future, or does it sometimes help to create it? How far will artificial intelligence, space exploration and other technologies go? Or should some science fiction ideas stay on the pages of books?
We will talk about this with Alastair Reynolds and technology journalist Adomas Rutkauskas. The discussion will be moderated by physicist Dr Augustas Vaitkevičius.
🗣️ The discussion will be in English.
