My research concerns non-classical spin states in cold atoms.
Why are cold atoms interesting?
The research objects are clouds of gas cooled to near absolute zero. At such extreme temperatures, atomic motion changes fundamentally — it is governed by the laws of quantum mechanics.
We investigate what new phenomena emerge in these systems and how they can be applied to:
- Quantum simulators — modeling complex quantum systems
- Quantum computers — processing information using quantum methods
- Atomic clocks — the most precise timekeepers in the world
Cold atoms allow us to explore the quantum world and understand many-particle complexity under controlled conditions.
