Brief Physics Lecture in the VU open science competition

21 October 2026Science Popularization

Today, at the Vilnius University competition for significant contributions to open science, I presented my spare-time project – "Brief Physics Lecture" (Trumpa fizikos paskaita).

Presenting Brief Physics Lecture at the VU competition: the audience listens while the screen shows the project's numbers and videos from the channel

Did you know that a story connected to Raseiniai leads all the way to the Manhattan Project? Today young people can learn about Alexander Sachs, who in 1939 delivered Albert Einstein's letter to US President Roosevelt, from a physics textbook as well – it includes a link to my Brief Physics Lecture.

This is what matters most to me: when science communication goes beyond social media and becomes an open educational resource. Today the channel has more than 3,000 subscribers, and the lectures are used in schools, in lessons and in extracurricular activities. They are also watched by adults and by scientists from different fields (mathematicians, chemists, philosophers and more).

It is a meaningful encouragement to keep going, and proof that science can be accessible to a much wider audience than the academic community. I am glad that this work was noticed in the VU competition.
